Singer Mangli, who recently performed at the Rathasaptami celebrations in Arasavalli, Srikakulam district, has issued a statement addressing the controversy surrounding her presence alongside Union Minister Rammohan Naidu during a VIP darshan. Her appearance with the minister and subsequent media interactions drew criticism from TDP supporters, who questioned why she was given prominence despite her known admiration for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Clarification on Political Allegations
In an emotional response, Mangli expressed disappointment over the backlash and clarified that her visit was not politically motivated. She revealed that ahead of the 2019 elections, she had sung for YSRCP upon requests from certain leaders and participated in campaigns for two constituencies due to personal connections with local politicians. However, she emphasized that she never spoke against or insulted any other party.

Mangli stated that she has performed for leaders across parties, including BJP and BRS. However, due to her association with YSRCP during the 2019 elections, she was unfairly branded as a political figure, leading to lost opportunities and personal distress.
Denies Remarks Against Chandrababu Naidu
Refuting allegations that she made derogatory remarks about TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Mangli asserted that no such statements were made and called for evidence to support such claims. She emphasized that she was not approached by TDP leaders for campaign songs in 2019 and questioned the fairness of linking her to political narratives using old video clips.
No Political Affiliation
Mangli reiterated that she holds no political allegiance and is not a campaigner for any party. She disclosed that while she was approached to sing promotional songs for multiple parties, including YSRCP, ahead of the 2024 elections, she declined all offers. She also clarified that her appointment as an advisor to SVBC was a professional decision, not a political one, and was in line with previous appointments given to other artists.
Appeals to Stop Politicizing Artists
Expressing distress over the targeted criticism, Mangli stated that she comes from a humble tribal background and finds such political attacks deeply hurtful. She urged people to respect her as an independent artist and refrain from politicizing her artistic contributions.
