In recent times, we’ve seen journalists stepping into political roles and benefiting from political influence. However, it’s rare to find media personalities who dedicate themselves to public service. Ravi Prakash stands out in this regard. His work with the Ravi Prakash SiliconAndhra Sanjivani Hospital in Kuchipudi, Krishna district, exemplifies his commitment to serving the needy.
The hospital was established six years ago with the goal of helping the poor. When Ravi Prakash was the CEO of TV9, he tirelessly worked to secure funds for the hospital. Over two days, he organized a fundraising drive called Sanjivani, without any advertisements, to support the hospital’s mission. The result of his efforts is the Ravi Prakash SiliconAndhra Sanjivani, inaugurated on Dussehra day in 2018.
Today, it serves as a lifeline for many, handling 300 outpatients daily. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including advanced operation theatres and the country’s first high-tech X-ray lab, the hospital offers free treatment to the poor. It serves people from 50 villages in and around Kuchipudi, and uniquely, provides meals to both patients and their attendants.
Kuchipudi, known for its dance form and rich cultural heritage, faces high poverty levels and lacks proper medical facilities. Residents often had to travel to Vijayawada and Machilipatnam for better treatment. Shocked by this situation, Ravi Prakash aimed to provide quality medical care locally, leading to the establishment of SiliconAndhra Sanjivani Hospital. Despite challenges and attempts to sideline him from the media field, Ravi Prakash persevered, ensuring the hospital’s continuous development.
Ravi Prakash SiliconAndhra Sanjivani boasts facilities that rival private hospitals, with expensive beds in each ward. The hospital, built across five floors, currently operates on two, with Ravi Prakash striving to complete the construction of the remaining floors.
Five state-of-the-art operation theatres, unmatched in Krishna district, are currently under construction. The hospital offers specialist services in orthopedics, neurology, pediatrics, dentistry, and gynecology, providing 24-hour medical care to the poor.
