Political turmoil in Bangladesh has intensified following violent clashes between protesters and the ruling party over the reservation quota issue. In response to escalating unrest, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and sought refuge in India after protesters stormed her official residence. Hasina initially planned to travel to London, but the British government has reportedly denied her asylum, citing challenges under UK immigration laws.
Currently, Sheikh Hasina is under the protection of Indian authorities at Hindon Air Base near Delhi. She is expected to remain in India for the time being due to difficulties in securing accommodation in London. Security agencies are preparing arrangements for her safety, with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval closely monitoring the situation.
The Air Force and security agencies have coordinated a special security protocol, including exercises between Hindon Air Base and Safdarjung and Palam airports, to facilitate Hasina’s extended stay. National Security Guards (NSG) commandos have been deployed for her internal security, while Garud commandos of the Air Force are overseeing security outside the Hindon Air Base.
