Riots in Bangladesh: Over 300 dead, PM Hasina’s home ransacked

Dhaka: In a dramatic turn of events, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s residence in Dhaka has been overrun by mobs, leading to widespread destruction and looting. Hundreds of protesters broke into the Prime Minister’s house, seizing food items, laptops, cooking utensils, beds, and even pets. The mob also damaged furniture, televisions, and vehicles. In a significant escalation, the Awami League party office was set ablaze.

In the wake of the unrest, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her position and fled the country. Reports indicate that she has reached Delhi, India, and is expected to continue her journey to London.

The riots, which have claimed the lives of over 300 people, have plunged Bangladesh into chaos. Amid the violence, there are preparations for the imposition of military rule. The Bangladesh Army Chief has announced plans to form a new government soon and stated that they are in contact with all parties to restore order.
