Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the monumental responsibility of preserving lakes for the benefit of future generations and public welfare. He stressed that there is no room for political pressures in this endeavor and assured that Hyderabad, once known as the “Lake City,” will be restored to its former glory. Speaking at the inauguration of the Hare Krishna Heritage Tower on Sunday, Revanth Reddy highlighted the need for stringent actions to protect natural resources to avoid future calamities. He stated that inspired by the Bhagavad Gita, the government considers the protection of lakes as a form of upholding dharma.
Regarding the trend of constructing farmhouses for luxury, Revanth Reddy noted that Hyderabad was historically developed as a city of lakes by past rulers. He pointed out that while lakes once quenched the thirst of millions, some individuals today are building farmhouses and releasing waste water, which he described as a betrayal of public service. He affirmed the government’s commitment to combating encroachments on lakes, stating that this is not driven by political vendettas but by a resolve to ensure the well-being of future generations. He reiterated that no matter the pressure, the government will stand firm against encroachers.
Revanth Reddy also laid the foundation stone for the Hare Krishna Heritage Tower, a 430-foot-tall structure to be constructed in Kokapet. He was joined by ministers, public representatives, Hare Krishna movement organizers, and devotees at the event. Revanth Reddy expressed that the Hare Krishna Heritage Tower will bring spirituality to the global community and that participating in such significant events is a great privilege. He announced that the Hare Krishna Foundation would assist in providing meals at government hospitals such as Osmania, Gandhi, and NIMS.
