Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday granted interim relief to YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in connection with the Singayya death case. During the hearing on a quash petition filed by Jagan, the court adjourned further proceedings to next Tuesday (July 1) and directed authorities not to take any hasty action until then.
The court also extended protection from immediate action to other YSRCP leaders named in the case—YV Subba Reddy, Vidudala Rajini, Perni Nani, and K Narayana Reddy—until the next hearing. All petitioners had approached the High Court seeking to quash the police case filed against them.
The case pertains to the death of Singayya during a visit by Jagan’s convoy to Rentapalla in Sattenapalli mandal of Palnadu district. Nallapadu police registered a case alleging that Singayya died as a result of being hit by a vehicle in Jagan’s convoy. Police even seized the car reportedly involved in the incident and registered multiple sections against the former Chief Minister.
