New Delhi, December 2025: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day visit to India concluded successfully, marked by high-level bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the December 4–5 meetings, the leaders exchanged views on strengthening strategic, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries. Beyond diplomacy, the culturally significant gifts presented to President Putin drew nationwide attention.
Prime Minister Modi presented six distinguished gifts to President Putin, representing India’s rich cultural heritage, artisanal traditions, and regional diversity. The gifts spanned from West Bengal in the east to Maharashtra in the west and Kashmir in the north, highlighting India’s legacy and the growing mutual respect between the two nations.
Among the highlights was a Russian-translated edition of the Bhagavad Gita, personally handed over by Prime Minister Modi. The sacred text, which imparts Lord Krishna’s guidance to Arjuna in the Mahabharata, symbolizes spiritual wisdom, righteousness, self-discipline, and inner peace. Modi emphasized that the teachings of the Gita continue to inspire millions globally.
Other notable gifts included Assam’s premium black tea, known worldwide for its taste, bright liquor, and GI-tagged heritage; a handcrafted silver horse from Maharashtra, representing honor, courage, and enduring India-Russia friendship; and a Murshidabad silver tea set from West Bengal, reflecting the nation’s intricate artistry and cultural traditions.
Additionally, President Putin received a handcrafted marble chess set from Agra, showcasing India’s stone craftsmanship, along with premium Kashmiri saffron, valued for its color, aroma, and culinary and cultural significance.
Officials highlighted that these gifts were more than symbolic gestures. They embodied India’s diverse cultural and artistic heritage while reinforcing strategic, civilizational, and people-to-people ties between India and Russia.
