The Jan Suraaj Party, spearheaded by political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, has released its first list of 51 candidates ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025. The initial list includes 16% women and 17% candidates from the most backward classes. Kishor emphasized fielding candidates with clean images, free from corruption and criminal backgrounds, reflecting his commitment to promoting transparency and professionalism in politics.

Among the prominent candidates are K.C. Sinha, a distinguished educationist who has served as Vice-Chancellor at multiple universities and authored over 70 mathematics textbooks, contesting from Kumhar constituency in Patna. Yaduvamshi Giri, a senior advocate at Patna High Court with extensive experience in high-profile legal battles, will contest from Manji. The party has also nominated doctors, including Dr. B.B. Prasad from Motihari and Dr. A.K. Das from Muzaffarpur, to contest from Daca and Muzaffarpur constituencies, highlighting a focus on professionals entering politics.

Speculation continues over Prashant Kishor’s own candidature, as his name is absent from the first list. Kishor has indicated that he may choose to contest from either Raghopur, a stronghold of the RJD, Tejashwi Yadav’s constituency, or his home seat of Kargahar. His decision is being closely watched and adds to the anticipation surrounding the party’s electoral strategy in Bihar.
