Hyderabad: Actor and filmmaker Posani Krishna Murali is under legal scrutiny following a complaint filed by State Telugu Yuvatha representative Bandaru Vamsikrishna. The complaint, lodged with the CID, accuses Posani of making derogatory remarks against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu and spreading false propaganda. The statements allegedly demean Chandrababu’s character and have the potential to incite communal discord.
The CID has registered a case against Posani under sections of the IPC, including BNS Act 111, 196, 353, 299, 336(3)(4), 341, and 61(2). If convicted, Posani could face up to three years of imprisonment.
During the YSRCP’s tenure, Posani frequently targeted opposition leaders, including Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh, with controversial statements. Multiple cases were registered against him in various police stations. Critics allege that he acted with impunity under YSRCP’s protection, but the new coalition government is now initiating legal proceedings.
In response to Posani’s remarks, members of Telugu Yuvatha and SC Cell leaders staged protests in Anantapur, burning his effigy. Police have announced that notices will be issued within two to three days, summoning Posani for questioning in the registered cases.
Meanwhile, actress Sri Reddy is also facing legal issues, with complaints filed against her in multiple police stations. Police have registered three cases based on these complaints, adding to the growing legal actions against public figures in the state.
