Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated 33 electric buses in Karimnagar on Sunday. He highlighted the success of the free bus travel scheme for women, noting the significant number of women utilizing the service. The minister also announced plans to fill 3,000 vacancies in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) in the near future.

Prabhakar emphasized the state’s commitment to enhancing public transport, stating that RTC buses would be purchased through the Mahila Shakti and MEPMA initiatives. He further mentioned that the government is focusing on addressing PRC concerns and implementing compassionate appointments for employees.

The TSRTC has signed an agreement with JBM for the procurement of electric buses, according to the minister. “Our plan is to operate electric buses not only in Hyderabad but also across various districts. To reduce pollution, we aim to eliminate diesel buses within the Hyderabad ring road,” said Prabhakar. He added that since the establishment of people’s governance in the state, the RTC has undergone significant progress with transformative developments.
