Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has alleged that the BJP and BRS conspired to defeat the Congress in the recent MLC elections. He demanded that K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and Harish Rao disclose whom they voted for and stated that the party would conduct a review of the defeat.
Addressing the media, Prabhakar accused BRS of indirectly supporting the BJP by refraining from fielding a candidate in the elections. He pointed out that polls were held in the constituencies of KTR and Harish Rao and insisted that they clarify their voting choice. He further stated that Congress lost by a narrow margin and would analyze the setback to strategize for the future.

Minister D. Sridhar Babu also responded, stating that the Congress respects the electoral verdict in the Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad graduates’ MLC election. He claimed that BRS had aligned with the BJP even during the Parliament elections, and a similar approach was evident in the MLC polls, where BRS did not field a candidate. He noted that Ravinder Singh secured votes on a personal basis.
Senior Congress leader Addanki Dayakar echoed these concerns, stating that the MLC election results highlighted BJP’s hold over BRS. He asserted that BJP and BRS are working together, and Congress does not view them as separate entities. He also criticized the BJP leaders’ post-election statements, calling them amusing.
