Hyderabad: The Telangana Police have imposed strict restrictions on public movement in and around the disputed Kancha Gachibowli lands near Hyderabad Central University (HCU). The move comes amid escalating tensions and legal disputes surrounding approximately 400 acres located in Survey No. 25 of Serilingampally Mandal, Ranga Reddy district.

According to official directives, the entry of outsiders to the area has been strictly prohibited. Local police have been instructed to deny access to all unauthorized individuals, and any violations will attract stringent action. The police stated that the land is now under administrative supervision, and the restrictions aim to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.

The Telangana government’s activities on these lands have drawn sharp criticism from the Supreme Court. In a recent hearing, the apex court directed the immediate suspension of all ongoing work at the site, raising concerns over the large-scale tree felling and its environmental consequences. The court questioned the urgency behind such actions and noted the potential threat to the region’s biodiversity.

The Supreme Court has adjourned further hearing on the matter to April 16 and instructed all stakeholders to refrain from any further activity until the next order is issued.
