Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday disclosed that he had respectfully declined an invitation from former U.S. President Donald Trump to visit Washington. Addressing a public meeting in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Modi said Trump had extended the invitation while he was attending the G7 Summit in Canada. “President Trump called and invited me to stop over in Washington for a dinner and discussion. I thanked him and told him that visiting Odisha, the land once traversed by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, was more important to me at that time. I politely declined the invitation,” the Prime Minister stated.
