PM Modi May Retire in September: MP Sanjay Raut

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut has made a sensational claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to retire in September. He alleged that Modi’s recent visit to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters was linked to discussions about his succession.

“PM Modi has not visited the RSS headquarters in the last ten years. His sudden visit raises questions. As per my information, the RSS wants a change in the country’s leadership. Modi’s tenure is nearing its end, and the RSS will soon decide on his successor,” Raut stated.

On March 30, Modi visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur for the first time as Prime Minister and paid tribute to RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. Raut cited RSS rules that restrict BJP leaders above 74 years of age from holding key positions. With Modi turning 75 on September 17, he alleged that the RSS is preparing for his exit.

Referring to BJP veteran L.K. Advani, who was overlooked for the Prime Ministerial position in 2014 due to age, Raut suggested a similar transition could take place. While Modi’s term extends for another four years, opposition leaders speculate that the BJP might introduce a new Prime Ministerial candidate earlier.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed these claims, asserting that Modi has no plans to retire. “PM Modi will continue to lead the country for many more years. We will see him as Prime Minister again in 2029. There is no need to search for a successor now,” Fadnavis stated.
