In response to the escalating riots in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a critical meeting with key ministers, including those from Defence, Home, Finance, and External Affairs. The meeting focused on the current situation in Bangladesh and assessed the security situation along the India-Bangladesh border.

Prime Minister Modi also inquired about the safety arrangements for Sheikh Hasina, who is currently stationed at the Hindon air base in Uttar Pradesh. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, along with several senior military officials, met with Hasina. It is anticipated that she will receive protection from additional forces, including the Indian Air Force. The discussions centered on the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh and potential strategies for Hasina’s future actions.

In response to the situation, security measures along the Indo-Bangladesh border have been intensified, and a night curfew has been imposed in Meghalaya. Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has reviewed the situation with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The violence in Bangladesh has resulted in at least 56 fatalities, with reports of attacks related to reservations.
