Former Minister Perni Nani has raised concerns over the recent inspection conducted by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan at the Kakinada Port, where a ship allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of rice was scrutinized. While acknowledging the inspection as a commendable effort, Nani expressed doubts regarding its execution and questioned Pawan Kalyan’s claims that customs and port officials had denied him permission to board the ship. He pointed out that customs and port authorities were present on the same boat during the inspection, raising questions about the refusal to grant permission.

Nani also raised suspicions about the inspection’s focus, specifically highlighting the demand for the seizure of the Stella ship, while Pawan Kalyan did not call for action against another vessel, the Ken Star. Nani argued that there was no rice belonging to Dwarampudi Chandrashekhar Reddy or his family on the Stella ship, yet Pawan Kalyan insisted on an investigation into the rice. He suggested that political drama may be at play between Pawan Kalyan and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu over rice exports.
Further, Nani criticized the absence of action against the Ken Star, a ship owned by Srinivas, who is reportedly linked to Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav. Nani alleged that Srinivas was responsible for transporting 42,000 tons of PDS rice, accusing Pawan Kalyan of avoiding the ship due to its connections. He demanded that the Ken Star also be seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
