During the Varahi Sabha held in Tirupati on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan made several notable remarks regarding the Sanatana Dharma. He stated, “I have come to Tirupati to confront those who claim to bury Sanatana Dharma in the ground.” He emphasized the importance of speaking out against any disrespect shown to the seven hills, asserting, “Should we only act for votes? Should we only speak for votes? I never imagined a day like this would come in my life. I didn’t come out when I was treated unfairly. I had previously mentioned that there is disrespect happening in Tirumala, and it needs to be corrected. They did not pay attention. That’s why they are limited to 11 seats. If we protect Dharma, it will protect us. We should learn from other religions. Sanatana Dharma has been facing humiliation for decades. We are not being given respect.”

“I have come to confront those who say they will bury Sanatana Dharma. I didn’t come here just as a Deputy Chief Minister or as the leader of Jana Sena. I came here as a Hindu, as an Indian. Sanatana Dharma demonstrates unity in diversity. They ridiculed me when I took up a penance to atone for the impurity in the Tirumala laddu prasadam. I had to get a declaration with my daughter when I went to Tirumala. They ridicule me for following Sanatana Dharma. I would give up anything for Sanatana Dharma.”

Additional Comments on Religious Sensitivity

Pawan Kalyan highlighted the growing number of attacks on Hindu deities in the country, stating, “If someone insults Rama, we should not remain silent. They say we are a secular country. Would they remain silent if other religions’ deities were insulted? Under the name of secularism, they are silencing Hindus. If Hindus are wronged, they have no right to speak. Pseudo-secularists are criticizing Sanatana Dharma. There are more and more people criticizing Hindu deities and Sanatana Dharma. Even though Bangladesh has declared itself as an Islamic state, no one speaks out. Some want to annihilate Sanatana Dharma.”

Announcement of the Varahi Declaration

On another note, Pawan Kalyan announced the Varahi Declaration, which includes the following key points:

  • Secularism should be practiced to respond uniformly when any religion or faith is harmed.
  • A strong law is needed that will be implemented across the country to prevent actions that undermine the preservation of Sanatana Dharma. This should be brought in immediately.
  • A ‘Sanatana Dharma Preservation Board’ should be established at the national and state levels to ensure the implementation of the law for the preservation of Sanatana Dharma.
  • Funds should be allocated to the Sanatana Dharma Preservation Board every year.
  • Aid should be denied to individuals and systems that belittle or incite hatred against Sanatana Dharma.
  • A method should be introduced to verify the cleanliness of the items used in daily offerings and prasadam in temples.
  • Temples should develop not only as spiritual centers but also as educational, artistic, economic, environmental conservation, and welfare centers. A plan should be prepared in that direction.
