Jana Sena Party supremo Pawan Kalyan has called on the people of Andhra Pradesh and Jana sena supporters to recognize the importance of wetlands on the occasion of World Wetlands Day. In a statement, Pawan Kalyan highlighted the critical role wetlands play in environmental sustainability, urging citizens to acknowledge their significance.
He described wetlands as some of the most valuable ecosystems, acting as natural water purifiers, carbon sinks, and essential for maintaining environmental balance by facilitating groundwater replenishment. He emphasized that wetlands are not only vital for biodiversity but also play a crucial role in mitigating seismic activity and regulating climate change.

The Janasena leader noted that Andhra Pradesh is home to over 25,000 wetlands, including Kolleru Lake, one of India’s largest freshwater lakes and a recognized Ramsar site. He also pointed out the significance of Pulicat Lake, the second-largest saltwater lake in the country, which supports marine ecosystems.

Pawan Kalyan stressed that these wetlands are integral to bird conservation, the fishing industry, and agriculture, providing livelihoods to thousands of people. He commended the government’s efforts to protect these areas, prevent encroachments, and ensure proper geographic boundaries. In his concluding remarks, Kalyan emphasized that environmental conservation is a collective responsibility, urging everyone to contribute to the protection of these vital ecosystems.
