Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has expressed dissatisfaction with the Telugu film industry’s attitude toward the state government, saying it has shown “no basic gratitude.” As the NDA-led coalition completes one year in office, Pawan questioned whether any film association representatives had formally met the Chief Minister even once during this period.
In a statement from his office, Pawan recalled how the previous government had insulted top actors and technicians, and emphasized that the current administration prioritizes the industry’s growth—not individual lobbying. “We won’t entertain personal appeals anymore,” he said, accepting the industry’s recent “return gift” with pointed sarcasm.

His remarks come amid tensions over ticket pricing and exhibitor demands. While a proposed theatre shutdown from June 1 was recently called off after a Film Chamber meeting, Pawan Kalyan’s comments have reignited debate.
Going forward, he stated, discussions with the government will only take place through official representatives, ensuring transparency and collective responsibility.
