Tirumala witnessed another leopard scare as CCTV footage captured the movement of a leopard near the Gali Gopuram shops on the Alipiri walkway in the early hours of Tuesday, around 1 AM. The visuals left both devotees and shopkeepers in a state of panic. Officials confirmed that the leopard entered the pedestrian route, hunted a cat, and retreated into the forest.
Shocked by the footage, shopkeepers immediately alerted the Forest Department and TTD Vigilance officials. Responding swiftly, TTD authorities issued an alert to devotees using the walkway. As a precautionary measure, they restricted children below 12 years from using the pedestrian route after 2 PM and advised pilgrims to walk in groups. Forest and TTD Vigilance officials have intensified security measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

Frequent leopard sightings in Tirumala’s residential areas have raised concerns among devotees. With uncertainty looming over potential wildlife threats, residents and pilgrims remain on high alert.
Just last week, a leopard was spotted inside the premises of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University in Tirupati, causing panic among students near the hostel area. Given the increasing incidents, devotees are urging TTD authorities to take proactive safety measures to prevent any mishaps.
