New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, stating that Pakistan must face consequences for its actions. His remarks came during a book launch event held in Delhi on Saturday.
“We have no desire for conflict or war with our neighbours. We have remained silent all these years in pursuit of lasting peace,” Bhagwat said. “However, they continue to carry out terrorist attacks that claim innocent lives. Now they disown any responsibility. But the *Bhagavad Gita* teaches that those who commit wrong must be punished.”
Calling Pakistan’s actions a grave mistake, Bhagwat stated that accountability is inevitable. “Pakistan has made a mistake, and it must face punishment. Even Lord Rama killed Ravana not out of personal vengeance, but for the welfare of the people. That was not violence—it was justice,” he said. “A ruler’s responsibility is to guide those who stray back to the right path.”
The RSS chief emphasized that the attack has caused immense pain to the people of India and warned that such incidents will not be tolerated. “The time for a fitting response has come,” he said. “In the past, we may have chosen other paths due to a lack of strength. But today, we are strong. And strength must be demonstrated when required.”
Bhagwat’s comments come amid heightened tensions and national outrage following the Pahalgam terror attack, which Indian authorities have linked to Pakistan-based terror outfits.
