Hyderabad: A fresh controversy has erupted over the death of former Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, with his mother, Mahanandakumari, lodging a complaint with the Rayadurgam Police alleging suspicious circumstances and medical negligence. In her complaint, she claimed that during Gopinath’s treatment at AIG Hospital, she was not allowed to see her son, while BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) was reportedly permitted to visit him. Gopinath, who had been suffering from health issues for several months, passed away on June 8 while undergoing treatment.

Mahanandakumari alleged that negligence in providing timely medical care led to her son’s death. She pointed out that there were delays in conducting dialysis and lapses in post-surgical care following kidney removal. She further claimed that the confirmation of his death was also delayed unnecessarily. The complainant urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the treatment process, decision-making, and the events leading to his death to uncover the truth behind the incident.

The complaint has reignited tensions between the two families involved in the Jubilee Hills by-election. Police confirmed that they have received the complaint along with copies of medical test reports and hospital treatment documents. Rayadurgam Inspector Venkanna stated that a preliminary inquiry has been initiated and further action will be taken based on the findings.
