MLC Jeevan Reddy has expressed deep dissatisfaction with the current situation within the Congress party, stating he is struggling to cope with recent developments. In a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, he urged the leadership to take strict action against party defections and emphasized the importance of adhering to moral principles. Reddy highlighted Congress’ historical opposition to defections, recalling Rajiv Gandhi’s stand against such practices.
A Decade of Struggle
Speaking to the media, an emotional Reddy shared that despite offers from other political parties, he has remained committed to the Congress for the past 10 years, even during challenging times. He voiced his frustration over the re-entry of Pocharam Srinivas into the party, whom he accused of being responsible for earlier defections. Jeevan Reddy criticized the decision to not only readmit Srinivas but also assign him key positions, calling it a major injustice. He stressed that party rewards should go to those who have shown loyalty and worked hard for Congress, rather than defectors.
Alleges Murder of Close Aide by BRS MLA
In a significant accusation, Jeevan Reddy alleged that Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar, who recently joined Congress from BRS, was responsible for the murder of his close aide. He expressed disappointment over the party’s decision to admit Kumar without prior consultation, calling it a personal betrayal. Reddy questioned what he should now tell Congress supporters in Jagtial. He urged the leadership to take action against MLAs who have switched parties, insisting that the party must honor the trust placed in it by the people of Telangana, who delivered a strong electoral mandate. Reddy stated that his future decisions will depend on the leadership’s actions.
