Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has leveled serious accusations against certain groups in Kakinada, alleging widespread corruption. According to him, during the previous government’s tenure, these groups engaged in illegal activities involving the export of ration rice worth thousands of crores from Kakinada port to foreign countries. Manohar convened a meeting with senior officials for the second consecutive day on Saturday, where he criticized some officials for allegedly facilitating these illicit operations. He announced plans for a CID investigation into these irregularities and vowed stringent actions against those found culpable. Recently, authorities confiscated 7615 metric tonnes of ration rice in Kakinada, which was intended for illegal export.
During a meeting on Friday at the collector’s office, Manohar lambasted the previous YSRCP government for allegedly borrowing excessively through the Civil Supplies Corporation and failing to settle dues amounting to Rs 1,600 crore owed to farmers. He pledged to reform the procurement process for rice to better support tenant farmers, underscoring the government’s commitment to rectify these issues and ensure accountability.
These developments underscore the government’s determination to tackle corruption and ensure transparency in the civil supplies sector. Minister Manohar’s firm stance on initiating a CID probe and overhauling procurement practices reflects a proactive approach towards addressing systemic flaws and delivering justice to affected farmers and stakeholders.
