Telangana is experiencing relentless rainfall, causing extensive flooding and infrastructure damage across the state. Many areas have transformed into virtual lakes, with low-lying regions heavily submerged. In Mahbubabad district, significant damage has occurred to the railway infrastructure.
The breach of a reservoir near Amodya village has led to flooding along the Vijayawada-Kazipet route, washing away the track’s supporting stones. Emergency response measures are underway as officials address the situation. The railway track between Intikanna and Kesamudram has also suffered damage, with gravel and stones displaced and power poles shifted. This has resulted in a disruption of train services on the Vijayawada-Kazipet line. Additionally, severe flooding is affecting the railway tracks in the outskirts of Mahbubabad.
In response, several trains have been halted at nearby railway stations. At Mahbubabad station, the Machilipatnam and Simhapuri Express trains are currently stranded, and some trains have been rerouted. The Mangapet Express has been stopped at Kazipet, while a train from NTM to Bidar via Secunderabad has been halted at Mahbubabad. Flooding at Thallapossapalli has also impacted the railway track, causing the Pandipalli-bound Mahbubnagar-Vishakhapatnam Express to be stranded for approximately four hours, leading to significant passenger inconvenience.
