West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday unveiled the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) manifesto for the 2026 Assembly elections, titled “Banglar Jonno Didir 10 Protigya” (Didi’s 10 Promises for Bengal). The document outlines a strong focus on welfare, employment generation, and infrastructure development. Banerjee said the party would implement these promises if it is voted back to power in the upcoming elections.
Key proposals include an enhanced “Lakshmir Bhandar” scheme, under which general category women will receive ₹1,500 per month and SC/ST women ₹1,700 per month. The manifesto also introduces the “Banglar Yuva-Sathi” scheme, offering ₹1,500 monthly assistance to unemployed youth. A dedicated agricultural budget of ₹30,000 crore has been proposed, along with financial support for landless farmers.
The party has also promised housing for all poor families, piped drinking water supply to every household, and expansion of healthcare services through free medical camps across blocks and urban areas. It further pledged modernization of government schools under “Banglar Shikshayat,” development of world-class ports and logistics hubs to position Bengal as a trade gateway, uninterrupted old-age pensions, and administrative reforms including the creation of seven new districts.
Taking aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Banerjee alleged that an “undeclared President’s rule” is prevailing in the state. She accused the Centre of misusing agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target TMC leaders. She also claimed that measures like the National Register of Citizens (NRC) could be used to strip citizens of their rights, asserting that her party would strongly oppose such moves. The Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29.
