In a significant blow to Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), its key commander Abu Saifullah was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Sindh province on Sunday. Security sources confirmed that Saifullah had been a mastermind behind multiple terror attacks in India and was actively involved in the LeT’s recruitment, finances, logistics, and cross-border operations.
Authorities revealed that Saifullah operated under the alias “Vinod Kumar” and was married to a Nepali national, Nagma Banu. He had been residing in Nepal while coordinating terror activities along the Indo-Nepal border. Investigators suspect that he played a crucial role in recruiting cadres and channeling financial aid for extremist operations.
Saifullah was implicated in several high-profile attacks, including the 2001 CRPF camp attack in Rampur, the 2005 Indian Science Congress blast in Bengaluru, and the 2006 attack on the RSS headquarters. He was also allegedly working in close coordination with LeT’s chief accountant Yakub.
His killing is being seen as a strategic setback for Lashkar-e-Taiba’s international network and its ability to orchestrate attacks in the region.
