Hyderabad: After several months of legal battles across the two Telugu states, Lady Aghori Srinivas has been granted bail by the court with specific conditions. The bench approved bail on a Rs 10,000 bond and directed Srinivas to report to Kothapalli Police Station every Thursday. He is scheduled to be released from jail tomorrow.
The case against Srinivas was filed by a young woman from Karimnagar’s Kothapalli. The complainant alleged that Srinivas, who introduced himself under the pretext of Sanatan Dharma, attempted to sexually assault her by forcibly tying a sacred thread (thali) around her neck at Kondagattu. She also accused him of extortion amounting to ₹3 lakh and issuing death threats if she revealed the matter. Based on her complaint, police registered cases under Sections 64(1), 87, 318(4), and 351(2) of the IPC.
The victim, Srivarshini, is currently residing with her parents and has not appeared before the media following police counseling at the Sakhi Center.
In a separate incident, Srinivas had been accused of cheating a woman producer from Rangareddy district’s Shankarpalli Mandal. The producer had filed a case after Srinivas allegedly extorted ₹10 lakh from her by promising to conduct religious rituals (pujas) that would bring prosperity. The producer met Srinivas during a dinner at Pragati Resorts in Proddutur about six months ago. Srinivas frequently contacted her and convinced her to transfer ₹5 lakh as an advance for pujas. Later, he allegedly took her to a farmhouse in Ujjain for the rituals and demanded an additional ₹5 lakh, threatening family destruction if the payment was not made.
Following the producer’s complaint, Srinivas was arrested on charges of cheating. The recent bail order provides him temporary relief amid ongoing investigations.
