Hyderabad: Amid allegations and threats reportedly made by the Congress government against students of Hyderabad Central University (HCU), BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) issued an open letter expressing solidarity with the ongoing protest to protect 400 acres of forest in Gachibowli.

KTR described the students’ movement as a “selfless and noble initiative” to protect the ecologically sensitive Kanche Gachibowli forest. He commended the students, environmental activists, and concerned citizens who united to save the land, which is home to 734 species of flowering plants, 220 species of birds, 15 species of reptiles, and 10 species of mammals.

“This movement reflects our love for nature and concern for the future. I thank every student, activist, journalist, and citizen who has raised their voice for this cause,” KTR stated.

He criticized the Congress government for allegedly attempting to malign the protest and mislead the public with claims of developing an “Eco Park” and shifting the university to a “Fourth City.” KTR termed these efforts as deliberate distractions and intimidation tactics.

He urged the state government to withdraw its plans to auction the land, emphasizing that decisions should not be made for short-term financial gains but with a long-term vision for environmental preservation.

“The Supreme Court has already intervened to stop what could have been an environmental disaster. Yet, the government’s conspiracies continue. The fight to save the 400 acres is not over,” he added.

KTR reiterated that the BRS stands firmly with the students and will continue supporting their efforts. He demanded an immediate announcement from the state government to cancel the auction process, respecting both the spirit of the Supreme Court’s orders and the ongoing public movement.

Calling for wider participation, he urged students, activists, civil society, and Telangana citizens to continue the struggle until the forest land is permanently safeguarded.
