Hyderabad: Former minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has filed a Rs 10 crore defamation suit in the Hyderabad City Civil Court against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, several media outlets, and social media platforms. In his complaint, KTR alleged that comments made by Bandi Sanjay on August 8, 2025, falsely linked him to misuse of the Telangana Special Intelligence Branch (SIB), phone tapping, and financial irregularities.
KTR accused Bandi Sanjay of launching a malicious campaign driven purely by political vendetta, making baseless and defamatory statements intended to damage his reputation. He argued that such irresponsible remarks from a sitting Union Minister could severely harm the credibility and dignity of public representatives. Despite serving a legal notice on August 11, 2025, Bandi Sanjay refused to issue an unconditional public apology, prompting KTR to seek judicial intervention. The petition also requests restraining orders to prevent the defendants from publishing or broadcasting defamatory content in the future. The City Civil Court has taken up the matter and issued summons to Bandi Sanjay, directing him to appear before the court on December 15.
