BRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Friday said he fully cooperated with the Special Investigation Team during questioning in connection with the phone-tapping case. Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan after appearing before the SIT at the Jubilee Hills Police Station, KTR alleged that false and baseless information was being leaked to the media, accusing the government of encouraging a culture of leaks.
KTR said he questioned SIT officials over the circulation of misleading reports, including claims involving the names of film actresses. He stated that the SIT clarified it had not shared any such information with the media. He also dismissed reports suggesting that individuals named Prabhakar Rao and Radha Kishan Rao were present during his questioning, asserting that no one other than himself and police officials was in the room.

The BRS leader further raised concerns over the alleged continuation of phone tapping of opposition leaders. According to KTR, SIT officials said they had no information and were not directly involved, but did not categorically deny that phone tapping was taking place. He added that he had conveyed his willingness to appear again if summoned for further inquiry.
SIT officials questioned KTR for nearly seven hours at the Jubilee Hills ACP office. The probe is reportedly examining whether data obtained through phone tapping was used to threaten businessmen and solicit donations in the form of electoral bonds. KTR’s statement was recorded, and officials indicated that he may be called again as the investigation progresses.
Earlier in the day, KTR appeared at the Jubilee Hills Police Station around 11 am in response to an SIT notice. He was accompanied by senior BRS leaders, including Harish Rao. Police imposed heavy security arrangements in the area, while tension prevailed outside the station as BRS workers staged protests.
