Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao strongly condemned the arrest of Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, calling it an “undemocratic and outrageous act.” The arrest took place at Jubilee Hills following a complaint by Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar.
In a statement on Tuesday, KTR criticized the Congress government for targeting BRS leaders. “The illegal arrest of Kaushik Reddy reflects the Congress regime’s growing trend of filing baseless cases and harassing opposition leaders. It has become a habit for the Revanth Reddy government to detain BRS leaders unjustly,” he said.
KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of resorting to suppressive tactics to divert attention from his administration’s shortcomings. “The Chief Minister is engaging in such actions to hide his inefficiency. Arresting a BRS MLA in a one-sided manner, while shielding defectors, is a completely undemocratic practice,” he alleged.
Highlighting the government’s failure to fulfill promises in the Huzurabad constituency, KTR claimed that the Congress administration ignored key welfare schemes such as farmer loan waivers and the Dalit Bandhu initiative. “Instead of addressing public concerns, the government is resorting to intimidation tactics by arresting those who question its failures,” he said.

KTR demanded Kaushik Reddy’s immediate release, warning that the BRS would not be deterred by such actions. “The Congress government cannot shake the spirit of BRS leaders, who have always stood by the people. We demand the unconditional release of Kaushik Reddy at the earliest,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that Kaushik Reddy was arrested in connection with a complaint filed by Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar, who alleged misconduct and verbal abuse by the BRS legislator during a recent government meeting.
The incident has sparked a political row, with BRS leaders terming the arrest as a political vendetta by the Congress-led administration.
