The political rivalry between BRS and Congress leaders in Telangana has intensified, reaching a peak with a recent incident. Supporters of Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi allegedly attacked the residence of Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy, creating a tense atmosphere.
BRS Executive President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) strongly condemned the attack on Kaushik Reddy. He personally visited Kaushik Reddy’s residence to meet with him and his family. Speaking on the occasion, KTR criticized the ruling Congress government for the violent actions being taken against opposition leaders.
“An attempt to murder an MLA in broad daylight? What direction is our state heading in?” KTR questioned, expressing his concerns over the increasing factional and rowdy politics in Telangana. He also condemned the alleged house arrest of Kaushik Reddy, followed by the attack carried out by Gandhi’s supporters, labeling it a sign of lawlessness.
KTR further attacked Congress, stating, “Is this what the Indiramma Rajyam stands for, where even an MLA has no protection?” He suggested that Kaushik Reddy was targeted because he has been legally challenging the ruling government and speaking out against defected MLAs.
Kaushik Reddy, according to KTR, has done nothing wrong. “Has Revanth Reddy forgotten what he said during his time as PCC chief, calling for the stoning of defected MLAs?” KTR remarked. He accused defected MLAs of creating chaos to save their positions. He also pointed out that such attacks on MLAs had not occurred in the last decade and blamed the ineptitude of the current government for the deteriorating law and order situation.
KTR demanded that the Speaker take action on the pending disqualification petitions of defected MLAs and called for immediate action against the police officers who were complicit in the attack. He also demanded that Arekapudi Gandhi clarify his political affiliations, noting that power is never permanent and defected MLAs must be held accountable.
