Hanamkonda: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp critique against the Congress, accusing it of misleading citizens under the pretext of the BC Declaration. Addressing a BRS meeting in Hanamkonda, KTR questioned Congress’s commitment to its promises, asking, “What happened to the assurances given in the BC Declaration?”
KTR claimed that Congress has ignored both new and existing welfare schemes, stating, “Congress removed BC Bandhu and Rythu Bandhu initiatives once it assumed power. Now, they are raising the caste census issue only to gain BC votes, asking intrusive questions about assets like bank balances, air conditioners, and refrigerators.” He alleged that officials conducting the caste census are facing strong public resistance, adding that Congress had previously promised 42% reservations for BCs in local body elections and should implement this before proceeding with any elections.
KCR’s Prior Call for OBC Ministry
KTR highlighted that despite holding central power for decades, Congress never established a dedicated OBC ministry, something that CM KCR had long advocated. “People are questioning Congress’s intentions, particularly with its last-minute push for a caste census in Maharashtra,” KTR added.
