The Kolkata junior doctor murder case, which triggered nationwide protests, has taken a significant turn. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sealdah Court granted bail to RG Kar Medical College Principal Sandeep Ghosh and police officer Abhijit Mondal. The court cited the failure to file a chargesheet within the mandatory 90-day period as the reason for granting bail.
The case had earlier been transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court after allegations emerged of mishandling by the West Bengal Police. Sanjay was identified as the prime accused, while Mondal was accused of delaying the FIR and Ghosh of tampering with evidence.
