Kerala Police have uncovered a disturbing case of sexual assault involving a Dalit minor girl in Pathanamthitta district. The victim, now 18 years old, revealed that she had been sexually assaulted by 62 men starting from the age of 13. In a formal complaint to the authorities, the victim detailed incidents of abuse, including one in January 2024, where she was abducted, taken to an isolated location, and raped.
The police investigation has revealed that the girl, an athlete, was sexually assaulted on five different occasions. Among the perpetrators are her coaches, fellow athletes, and classmates. Following the victim’s testimony, police investigated her father’s phone and her diaries, leading to the identification of around 40 suspects. So far, 44 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

Deputy Inspector General of Police S. Ajitha Begum, overseeing the investigation, confirmed that 30 FIRs had been filed related to the case, and 44 of the 59 accused individuals named in the complaints have been arrested. Two suspects remain at large and are believed to be abroad. The Kerala Police are making arrangements to issue lookout notices and are seeking to file a red corner notice through Interpol.
police also revealed that last year, a young man the victim had met on Instagram took her to a rubber plantation in Ranni, Kerala, where he, along with three other men, sexually assaulted her. This incident came to light during a counseling session held by the Child Welfare Committee.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to pursue additional suspects involved in these heinous crimes.
