Hyderabad: Telangana former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has urged the central government to immediately stop Operation Kakar, which targets Maoists. In his address at the BRS Rajatotsava meeting in Elkaturthi, KCR called for an end to violence in Telangana’s forests and recommended initiating peace talks with Naxalite groups. He emphasized the need for the government to listen to the demands of the Maoists, instead of continuing military operations.
KCR’s remarks followed his initial response to the recent attack in Pahalgam, where he observed a two-minute silence with BRS party members to honor the victims. Reflecting on his own political journey, KCR recalled the insults he faced over the past 25 years, stressing that he had always remained steadfast in the face of adversity. He also stated that anyone who criticized him would be confronted.
In his speech, KCR highlighted the political history of Telangana’s formation, stating that the struggle for the state’s creation was never about power. “Congress leaders destroyed Telangana for the sake of positions,” he asserted, adding that when Chandrababu Naidu mentioned Telangana, it was an insult to the people. He labeled Congress as the “No. 1 villain” for Telangana and credited leaders like Jayashankar for their contributions to the state’s struggle.
KCR further acknowledged the sacrifices made by BRS leaders, emphasizing that the pink flag of the party was raised through the loss of many lives in the pursuit of Telangana’s statehood. He also highlighted significant developments under his leadership, including the completion of delayed projects, the resolution of water scarcity in Palamuru, and the swift construction of the Kaleshwaram project in just three years. He concluded by noting that Telangana’s barren lands had been transformed into fertile fields, now producing crops that rival those of Punjab.
