Former MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has stirred debate on social media with her recent tweet on the 72nd birthday of her father and former Telangana Chief Minister, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR). In the message, Kavitha addressed him formally as “movement leaders and respected senior Sri Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao,” instead of using a personal reference such as “father” or “dad.” Observers noted that the formal tone of the message appeared more like a political statement than a personal greeting.
Netizens and BRS party workers reacted sharply, criticizing Kavitha for not including a photograph of KCR and for limiting her wishes to text alone. Many questioned whether political considerations now override personal and familial expressions of affection. The tweet has sparked widespread discussion about the intersection of politics and family ties, particularly in high-profile political families.

The incident also reignited past comparisons. During KCR’s earlier terms, while still in the BRS party, Kavitha had posted affectionate birthday messages referring to him as “daddy,” which are now circulating widely on social media. Many commenters highlighted the contrast, noting that while in power he was addressed warmly, without office he is now referred to formally as a senior leader.
Kavitha’s political journey has recently drawn attention for her criticisms of her own party. Following her bail in the Delhi liquor scam case, she openly challenged the BRS, leading to her suspension for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities. She subsequently resigned from her MLC post and primary party membership. Since then, she has been actively delivering political speeches and has expressed confidence in regaining influence and returning to power in the next term.
