Hyderabad: In a development seen as politically significant, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha appears to be carving out an independent path. On Saturday, she inaugurated the new office of Telangana Jagruthi in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, and delivered remarks that many interpreted as a strategic move away from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Addressing the gathering, Kavitha stated that BRS and Telangana Jagruthi are like “two eyes” of her father K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). However, she made it clear that her future political efforts would be through Telangana Jagruthi rather than the BRS party. “We formed Telangana Jagruthi with the inspiration of KCR and Prof. Jayashankar,” she said, indicating a revived focus on regional and social justice agendas.

Notably, the newly inaugurated Jagruthi office displayed portraits and statues of KCR, Telangana Talli, B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Phule, and Prof. Jayashankar, but omitted any BRS party flags or insignia. Analysts noted that this symbolic separation suggests Kavitha is preparing to reconnect with the public under a new or rebranded platform.

Kavitha also targeted the Congress-led state government over its issuance of notices to KCR in the ongoing Kaleshwaram project probe. She announced plans to hold a protest on June 4, warning, “We will not remain silent if anyone tries to trouble KCR.” She reiterated her loyalty, stating, “KCR is with me; I am not against him.”

She further demanded that the Central government introduce a bill for BC reservations in Parliament before the upcoming local body elections. Failing which, she warned of a nationwide “Rail Roko” agitation. Her speech, while ending with slogans such as “Jai Telangana, Jai KCR, Jai Jagruthi,” made no explicit reference to BRS, reinforcing speculation about her shifting political strategy.

Political commentators suggest that Kavitha may be preparing the ground to launch a new political party or movement rooted in Telangana pride and social justice, distancing herself from the current BRS leadership’s trajectory.
