Hyderabad: The BJP’s decision to appoint K. Ramachander Rao as the new president of the Telangana unit has sparked unrest within the party, with several leaders expressing dissatisfaction. The post, which many expected would go to a BC leader—particularly Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender—was instead given to Ramachander Rao, triggering surprise and disappointment among sections of the party cadre.
While names like Etela Rajender, Bandi Sanjay, and Dharmapuri Arvind were widely speculated, the BJP central leadership’s unexpected decision has drawn criticism. Senior BJP MLA Raja Singh has already announced his resignation from the party in protest, and reports suggest that several second-tier leaders are also contemplating exit strategies.

Amid this turbulence, a political stir was created when senior BJP leader Ramidi Venkat Reddy from Medchal district met Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha. Reddy, known to be a staunch supporter of Etela Rajender, has long advocated for Etela’s elevation within the party. Sources indicate that Venkat Reddy has expressed dissatisfaction over the central leadership’s decision and is now considering resigning from the BJP to join Jagruthi.
According to party insiders, discussions between Venkat Reddy and Kavitha have been ongoing over the past two days. There is also speculation that other disgruntled BJP leaders may follow suit and shift loyalties to Jagruthi, further indicating rifts within the Telangana BJP following the recent leadership appointment.
