In a demonstration demanding the resolution of issues faced by the Backward Classes (BCs), BRS leaders staged a protest at Indira Park in Hyderabad. During the protest, MLC Kavitha addressed the BC Mahasabha and strongly urged the Revanth Reddy-led government to grant 42% reservations for BCs in local body elections. She also criticized the government for sidelining the Mandal Commission Report, questioning why it had been ignored.

Kavitha lambasted the Congress-led government for its continued injustice towards BCs, asserting that the community had always been neglected under its rule. She challenged anyone who could prove otherwise, offering to resign from politics if BCs had not been wronged. “We must reveal the true data on BCs, not falsified or misleading figures,” she emphasized, referencing the constitutional protections granted to caste-based communities.

She also recalled that the VP Singh government, which worked for the BC community, was dismissed by the BJP, and highlighted how leaders such as Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi had failed to address BC issues. Kavitha pointed to Rajiv Gandhi’s controversial statement that reservations for BCs would fragment the nation. She also criticized both the UPA and NDA governments for withholding the 2011 caste census report.

“The BJP has already confirmed that they will conduct a caste census, yet both national parties have failed BCs. Only regional parties, like those led by KCR and NTR, have supported and fought for BC justice,” Kavitha stated, recognizing their efforts to stand by and deliver justice to the BC community.
