Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has refuted speculation that she plans to float a new political party, stating firmly that she continues to be a member of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and remains committed to its growth. In a recent television interview, Kavitha clarified that Telangana Jagruthi, which she leads, is not a political party and should not be perceived as one.

“I am not starting a new party. Telangana Jagruthi and BRS must both remain strong. My fight is for self-respect, and I am very much part of BRS — I was, and I will remain so,” she said.

Claims Internal Sabotage, Reiterates KCR as Her Leader

Kavitha also reiterated her faith in party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, describing him as her leader, but claimed that he is surrounded by negative influences. She alleged that internal conspiracies led to her electoral defeat in Nizamabad and that she faced difficulties within the party for over a decade.

Expressing optimism about her future in politics, Kavitha remarked, “If not now, I will become Chief Minister in 10 or 15 years.” She also noted that leaders like Harish Rao may harbour similar aspirations, which she said is natural in politics. However, she was clear that as long as KCR remains in active politics, he is the rightful Chief Minister.

Reveals Lack of Support During Legal Challenges

Kavitha expressed disappointment over the lack of support from the party during the CBI and ED probes against her. She said she was unable to develop Nizamabad on par with constituencies like Gajwel, Sircilla, or Siddipet due to lack of government funding, despite repeated appeals. “Even when I tried to make my mark, I wasn’t allowed to,” she stated.

KCR Foretold Her Arrest, Paid Legal Fees

In a significant revelation, Kavitha said her father KCR had predicted her arrest shortly after the party’s defeat in December. “He spoke to me and my husband in January and told us to stay strong,” she said, adding that it was KCR who paid her legal fees during her time in custody, personally issuing the cheques.

Calling for internal reform, Kavitha urged the party to undertake introspection and address issues transparently. “Politics has turned into a space for vendetta,” she concluded.
