Hyderabad: The sacred Saraswati Pushkaralu will be celebrated in Telangana for the first time since the formation of the state, with the main event scheduled to take place at the Kaleshwaram pilgrimage site in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district from May 15 to 26, 2025.

This 12-day spiritual event, which occurs once every 12 years based on Jupiter’s entry into Mithuna Rasi, is expected to draw lakhs of devotees from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh. Anticipating the heavy influx, the Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 35 crore to facilitate arrangements and infrastructure development.

Minister for Endowments Konda Surekha, under whose direction the funds were released, formally launched the Pushkaralu web portal and unveiled the official event poster. Meanwhile, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu released the Pushkaralu mobile app, aimed at providing devotees with real-time information and services.

Addressing officials, Minister Surekha directed Endowments Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer and Commissioner Sridhar to execute the works with meticulous planning. The infrastructure plans include construction of bathing ghats, expansion of roads, installation of drainage systems, and enhancement of basic amenities for pilgrims.

The minister announced that a 17-foot statue of Goddess Saraswati will be installed at the site and that daily homams and special aartis will be performed by priests from Kashi, alongside local priests. A 100-bed tent city is also being established to accommodate visiting devotees.

Speaking at the event, Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted Kaleshwaram as the Triveni Sangam, where Godavari, Pranahita, and the subterranean Saraswati rivers meet. He recalled that the last Saraswati Pushkaralu was held in 2013, prior to Telangana’s formation, and reiterated the government’s commitment to conducting this year’s festival on a grand scale.
