Warangal: MLA Kadiyam Srihari has made strong allegations against former MLC K. Kavitha, holding her responsible for his resignation from the BRS. He said he was deeply disturbed by her involvement in the liquor scam and subsequent arrest, which led him to quit the party.
Addressing the media after releasing irrigation water from Nawabpet Reservoir in Janagam district, Srihari alleged that the Kalvakuntla family misused state resources during their decade-long rule. He accused them of land encroachments through the Dharani portal and amassing thousands of crores via the Kaleshwaram project. He added that the disputes in Kavitha’s family are purely over the distribution of illicit wealth and have nothing to do with Telangana’s people or the Congress party.

Srihari, who switched from BRS to Congress along with his daughter Kadiyam Kavya ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, also reacted to the Supreme Court’s ruling on disqualification of defected legislators. He said he would respect the Speaker’s decision and was ready to face by-elections if required.
A veteran politician born in 1952 in Warangal district, Srihari began his career as a bank manager and junior lecturer before entering politics with the Telugu Desam Party, serving as a minister in the cabinets of N.T. Rama Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu. He later joined the Telangana movement through BRS, where he held positions including Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister. Now with the Congress, he continues to play an active role in state politics.
