Kathmandu: Former Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has issued his first public statement after resigning from office following the violent Gen-Z protests that recently rocked the country. While several reports claimed that Oli had fled Nepal and sought refuge in Dubai, he clarified through an open letter that he is currently safe at the Shivapuri Barracks in Nepal.
In the letter released under his party’s name, Oli levelled accusations against India, continuing the anti-India stance he had taken even while in power. He reiterated that Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura are integral parts of Nepal. He also made a controversial remark that he lost his position mainly because he stated Lord Ram was not born in Ayodhya but in Nepal. Although he avoided making detailed comments on the ongoing protests, Oli reaffirmed his strong position on national issues and said his uncompromising approach led to his political downfall.
Key pointers from the letter written by outgoing Nepalese Prime Minister Oli to GenZ

Oli described himself as naturally stubborn, stating that he had demanded social media platforms operating in Nepal to comply with government regulations and register locally. He noted that if he had compromised on such issues, he could have gained many personal benefits, but he chose to place the nation’s interests above power and prestige. He indirectly blamed India for instigating the current unrest, asserting that all his actions were taken solely for the country and not for personal gain.
