Israel has launched severe air and drone strikes on Gaza, targeting Hamas positions across the Gaza Strip. Recent raids by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly killed 32 people, including 12 children. The attacks have focused on apartment buildings allegedly used by Hamas for surveillance, leading to widespread destruction. IDF warnings prompted nearly 2,50,000 residents to evacuate Gaza City. Meanwhile, Houthi rebels in Yemen, supporting Hamas, launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at Israel, triggering sirens in Tel Aviv, although the IDF claimed to have successfully intercepted the missile.
In northern Gaza, an IDF strike on a single household killed 14 members of the same family in the At-Twam area, according to medical sources. Hamas condemned the attacks, accusing Israel of targeting civilians and committing war crimes in violation of international law. Concurrently, Palestinian refugees in Lebanon voluntarily handed over weapons to the Lebanese army following government orders, with the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) cooperating, while Hamas and Hezbollah refused.
The ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel has intensified over the past two years. On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israeli border areas killed 1,200 Israeli civilians and took 251 hostages, prompting massive retaliatory strikes on Gaza. To date, the Gaza Health Ministry reports over 64,000 Palestinians have died, including a majority of women and children, with more than 400 reported missing, reflecting the devastating human toll of the ongoing war.
