New Delhi: In a major rescue operation, more than 500 Indians trapped in cyber scam activities in Myanmar have been brought back to the country. These individuals, who had traveled for job opportunities, were reportedly forced into illegal cyber activities by scam networks.
The rescued individuals were first transported to Thailand before being repatriated to India on a special flight. Among them are several individuals from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay played a crucial role in facilitating their return.

Cybercrime activities have escalated along the Myanmar border due to security lapses, with increasing external pressures, including from China. In response, Myanmar authorities launched a crackdown, freeing thousands of victims from multiple countries, including over 500 Indian nationals.
Indian officials coordinated efforts from Thailand, arranging special transport to bring back the stranded citizens. The Indian government deployed a C-17 transport aircraft for the repatriation. In the first phase, 266 men and 17 women arrived in India, while another 257 individuals are scheduled to return on Tuesday.
