India’s U-19 cricket team scripted history by defeating England in the Under-19 World Cup final at Harare, securing their sixth title. The Indian team registered a commanding 100-run victory on February 6, with BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia announcing a cash reward of ₹7.5 crore for players, coaching staff, and support personnel.
Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred with a blistering 175 runs off 55 balls, recording the second-fastest century in U-19 World Cup history. Under captain Ayush Mehtre, India posted a massive 411 for 9 in their allotted overs, setting an imposing target for England.
Chasing 412, England fell short at 311 despite a century from Caleb Falkner. Indian bowlers maintained relentless pressure, taking wickets at regular intervals. Saikia lauded the young team’s composure, saying, “Our boys performed brilliantly under pressure. This victory highlights the bright future of Indian cricket.”
With this win, India became the most successful team in U-19 World Cup history, going unbeaten throughout the tournament and cementing their record as six-time champions.
