The India AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi has been described as a historic milestone, marking a significant leap in the country’s artificial intelligence ambitions. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the summit has firmly positioned India on the path to becoming a global AI hub, highlighting the overwhelming international participation and strategic collaborations forged during the five-day event.

According to the minister, the summit attracted investment proposals exceeding $250 billion from multiple countries for infrastructure development, alongside an additional $20 billion in commitments for deep-tech sectors. A key outcome was the adoption of the ‘Delhi Declaration’ on AI governance and responsible usage, which has already received support from 70 nations, with the number expected to rise further.

The event drew more than 500,000 visitors, reflecting strong public and industry interest in India’s AI ecosystem. The government is now preparing to roll out India AI Mission 2.0, aimed at providing specialized AI training to nearly two million youth and expanding the nation’s computing capacity by adding 20,000 GPUs to the existing 38,000 units, significantly boosting technological infrastructure.
