Imran Khan’s Vision Deteriorates in Jail

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan is facing serious health issues, causing concern both within the country and internationally. Currently imprisoned at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, reports indicate that he has lost significant vision in his right eye, retaining only 15 percent, according to a report submitted by court-appointed lawyer Salman Safdar.

Since October last year, Imran has repeatedly complained to jail authorities about his deteriorating eyesight and difficulty seeing objects clearly. He alleges that his complaints were ignored and that he did not receive timely medical treatment, which resulted in blood clotting in the vessels of his right eye and severe vision impairment. Although he recently received an injection outside the jail, there has been little improvement in his condition.

Taking the matter seriously, the Pakistan Supreme Court has ordered the immediate formation of a medical board to examine Imran Khan. The court has directed that a full medical assessment be completed and a report submitted by February 16, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

In addition, the court has permitted Imran to communicate with his children via phone. At 73 years old, his party leaders and family members have expressed deep concern over his wellbeing and the lack of adequate medical care in prison, highlighting the need for immediate intervention to safeguard his health.
